Gregory B. Bierer, MD Appointed to Medical Director of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center & Sectional Clinical Chief for Sleep Medicine
The UCLA Department of Medicine is pleased to announce two new appointments for Gregory B. Bierer, MD, in the UCLA Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Allergy.
First, Dr. Bierer has been appointed medical director of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center. In this role, he will provide medical oversight for the UCLA Sleep Lab on the Westwood campus, the new UCLA Sleep Lab scheduled to open in North Hollywood, and home sleep apnea testing services across UCLA Health.
Second, Dr. Bierer has been appointed section clinical chief for sleep medicine within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Allergy. As clinical section chief, he will oversee clinical sleep medicine operations within the division, a role he has been serving in on an interim basis.
Dr. Bierer brings extensive experience in sleep medicine and health system leadership to these positions. His previous leadership roles include serving as medical director of the UCLA Santa Monica Intensive Care Unit.

We would also like to recognize Ravi Aysola, MD who recently retired from UCLA, for his many years of dedicated service. Through his leadership of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center and his instrumental role in developing the Section of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Aysola helped build an exceptional team committed to excellence in patient care, research and education. We thank him for his many contributions and wish him all the best in retirement.
