Jay M. Patel, MD Appointed Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UCLA West Valley Medical Center
We are pleased to announce that Jay M. Patel, MD, has been appointed medical director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UCLA West Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Patel is an interventional cardiologist with UCLA Health. A lifelong Chicagoan, he moved to California to complete his internal medicine residency at Stanford University, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at UCLA. His clinical expertise includes coronary artery disease, complex coronary intervention and the use of advanced intracoronary diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
In his role as medical director, Dr. Patel will provide physician leadership for the continued development of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) program at UCLA West Valley. His priorities will include maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and procedural quality, advancing evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives, expanding the clinical capabilities of the catheterization laboratory and strengthening collaboration among physicians, nurses, technologists and hospital leadership.
Dr. Patel is committed to fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to cardiovascular care. He will work closely with colleagues across interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, cardiac surgery, nursing and the broader cardiovascular team to support the continued development of comprehensive cardiac services at UCLA West Valley Medical Center. Through this collaborative effort, the program will continue to advance clinical excellence, education, quality improvement and patient-centered care for the communities we serve.
