David M. Sayah, MD, PhD Appointed as Clinical Chief, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine

The department of medicine is pleased to announce that David M. Sayah, MD, PhD has been appointed as clinical chief of the division of pulmonary & critical care medicine at UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM). Dr Sayah is an associate clinical professor at DGSOM, an associate program director of the Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship Program at UCLA, and since 2019 has served as the medical director of the UCLA Lung Transplant Program. He previously served as the associate director of the UCLA Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program and led the establishment of the UCLA Lung Transplant Fellowship Program, for which he also served as program director.

Dr. Sayah is an expert in advanced lung disease, in particular interstitial lung disease, and lung transplantation. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has a track record of productive research collaboration with publications in journals including Nature, the American Journal of Transplantation, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Sayah earned his PhD in cellular, molecular, and biophysical studies, and his MD at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed internal medicine residency and a pulmonary & critical care medicine fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
