Dr. Carol Mangione Appointed Chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
The Department of Medicine congratulates chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research and Barbara A. Levey, M.D., and Gerald S. Levey, M.D., endowed chair in medicine, distinguished professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine and distinguished professor of public health at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, Carol M. Mangione, M.D., M.S.P.H., on her appointment as chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force). The Task Force is an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine. The Task Force works to improve the health of people nationwide by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services, such as screenings, counseling services, and preventive medicines. Task Force recommendations have informed clinical standards for many professional societies, health organizations, and medical quality review groups.
