In Memoriam: Angela Lai, MD
Dear Colleagues,
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Lai, MD. Dr. Lai served as a primary care physician at the Sepulveda Primary Care Family Center in the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Health Care System (VA GLA).
Dr. Lai earned her undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and her medical degree at Dartmouth College. She was a member of the VA GLA community since 2011 when she began her residency training in the combined Cedars-Sinai/Veterans Affairs Internal Medicine Training Program. Upon completing her residency, she served as a hospitalist in the San Francisco Bay area for three years before returning the VA GLA system in 2017 to serve as a primary care physician for our veteran patient population.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Lai became known as an exceptional physician who demonstrated great care, compassion, and commitment for her patients and her colleagues at the VA GLA. Her colleagues share that she took great care of walk-ins with an exceptional attention to detail, and consistently delivered high-quality care to all. She is described as incredibly hard working and always willing to lend a hand or advocate for those in need. Additionally, she had a passion for medical education and deeply cared for the trainees at the VA GLA. The faculty and staff also fondly knew her as a talented chef who brought delicious homemade dishes to share at VA GLA events.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Dr. Lai’s colleagues and her family during this difficult time. Her colleagues have created a message board to honor her memory and invite you to add to the board by visiting “Honoring the Memory of Dr. Angela Lai.”
Sincerely,
E. Dale Abel, MD, PhD
