I was contemplating this surgery for 10 years. I had asked my primary doctor for help losing weight and nothing was working. When I asked him for a referral to bariatric surgery at UCLA, he was very resistant.
I am so glad I fought for this and came to UCLA for my care, and I wish I had been able to do this earlier. I went from a size 26 to 14 in 5 months. I am off my hypertension and diabetes medication. I look forward to exercising and going to the gym every day! Some people don’t even believe that this is the new, healthier me. I feel great about the food choices I make and regained my life and self-confidence!
