Joshua N. Khalili, MD Appointed Physician Wellness Director and Associate Chief Wellness Officer for the UCLA Department of Medicine
The UCLA Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Joshua N. Khalili, MD has been appointed director of physician wellness and associate chief wellness officer for the UCLA Department of Medicine.
Dr. Khalili received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where he also completed internal medicine residency training and chief residency. He joined UCLA faculty as a physician in the UCLA Health Extensivist Program and now serves as the medical director at UCLA Health Santa Monica Extensivist and program director of the UCLA Extensivist Kennamer Fellowship in the UCLA Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research.
He is currently the president of the Department of Medicine Professional Group (DMPG) and strives to lead the DMPG Board in representing the interests and needs of our diverse and exceptional faculty across the DoM. Dr. Khalili’s interest in physician wellbeing started during his chief resident year where he served as a wellness chief, and since being on faculty he has led as principal investigator of a randomized controlled trial to evaluate if professional coaching reduces physician burnout among faculty in the DoM. He is excited and honored to serve in this role and aims to understand how we can better represent and support our physicians while implementing innovative interventions to increase physician wellbeing.
