On My Mind... Reflections from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Medicine at UCLA (DoM). With a 70-year history of innovation in education, research, and patient care, the DoM has grown to become the largest department of medicine in the UC system. We have one of the largest NIH funding portfolios in the country and 6 of our clinical programs are nationally ranked within the top 10 in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report.
We take great pride in our achievements, but most importantly in our commitment to advancing health equity while training future leaders in internal medicine. Our accomplished trainees learn alongside world renown faculty who are innovators in health care delivery and drivers of scientific advances that are transforming many areas of medicine. Learn more about our department’s work, accomplishments, and goals directly from Chair and Executive Medical Director Dr. E. Dale Abel who shares his reflections each week.
