During a routine exam, my primary doctor noticed an elevated blood calcium level and referred me to the UCLA endocrinology department for diagnosis. My initial appointment resulted in a diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism, which subsequent testing confirmed. After educating myself about the disease, it seemed that surgery was the only real option. I did extensive online research on parathyroid surgeons, and was thankful to find Dr. Yeh at UCLA was rated among the best in the country!

From the moment I arrived at the UCLA surgery center, I was impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the staff before, during, and after my surgery. I experienced virtually no pain from the surgery. I was released about 4 hours afterward and didn't even find it necessary to fill the prescription for pain medication. I went home, took a Tylenol and went to sleep. The next day I was eating, drinking and talking normally.

Approximately one month after surgery I can barely see the tiny incision. Dr. Yeh is an amazing surgeon! I can't recommend him highly enough. He is also a caring person who called me the morning after surgery to see I how I was doing. My previous symptoms of fatigue and generally feeling sub-par are gone. If you are contemplating endocrine surgery at UCLA, you will be treated with kindness and respect by a first-rate surgical and support team!
