Hope and Encouragment

By Kathleen gouda52

I was a Kaiser patient 2 and a half year ago, I had an unsuccessful parathyroidectomy. I had osteopenia and getting worse. After an unsuccessful parathyroidectomy, they did a test to find where it was. Then I was referred to a surgeon who discouraged further surgery. When I turned 65 I had a onetime opportunity […]

Santa Visits Dr. Livhits

By SANTA santaclaus

I’m writing to commend UCLA Health, the UCLA Endocrine Center & the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for my recent successful minimally invasive parathyroidectomy. Dr. Masha Livhits and Dr. Lauren Orr reviewed the pre-op material submitted by my General Practitioner in Alaska, personally examined, and successfully operated on me less than a week ago. And, […]

Decade of Maturation

By MattWF restorer

As a junior in college, I was diagnosed with full kidney failure in 2007, and went on peritoneal dialysis in 2008 (my first choice). After a major peritonitis in 2010, I had to transfer to in-center hemodialysis. After transferring clinics a few times and moving, I was offered home hemodialysis with NxStage, with was much […]

Fatigue is Gone!

By Baby nurse triciarn

I had extreme fatigue. I am usually energetic but I found I needed naps. I am a nurse who was working 12 hour shifts but had to reduce it to 8 hours. My calcium level was high and so was my parathyroid level. I had osteoporosis. My endocrinologist said I needed a parathyroidectomy and that […]

Excessive Calcium Gone

By Liz e2unlimited

I found out from my endocrinologist that I needed a parathyroidectomy done. I have a strong aversion to surgery but my doctor decided that the adenoma on the parathyroid was large enough to potentially cause problems to the nearby area so it had to be surgically removed. I was then referred to Dr. Livhits by […]

Journey from a Caterpillar (Pre-Operation) to a Butterfly (Recovery)

By butterfly62 tracymays16

I have been on hemodialysis for 15 years, which gave me fluctuating parathyroid issues. Due to abnormal blood calcium levels, my nephrologist recommended that I visit Dr. Yeh. I held off on surgery for a while because I was preoccupied with another surgery the past year. Though, I knew that forgoing treatment would put me […]

A Patient’s Journey with MEN 1

By Steven sctanv11

I was diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) Type 1, which is a condition that resulted in the development of multiple tumors on my parathyroid glands. MEN Type 1 is relatively rare among the population, so I wanted to make sure I found someone who frequently deals with condition and understands its nuances. Dr. Yeh […]

Parathyroidectomy Experience

By paulgomes paulgomes

So this was my first experience any surgery at all and I was pretty apprehensive of the whole process going in, but Dr.Yeh was very comforting and reassured me that the procedure was relatively painless and would be very affective and long term enhance my lifestyle. My procedure was a parathyroidectomy. I went into surgery […]

Great Experience with Dr.Yeh

By j2017 jillbradbury

My procedure was a parathyroidectomy for high calcium. I had a great experience, and Dr. Yeh was very easy to talk to and caring. It was a really easy surgery with no pain and minimal scarring. Overall it was a very positive experience.

A second chance – UCLA Endocrine Center “Got It Right”!

By one happy camper one happy camper

Having been to both the world famous center for parathyroid surgery in Florida and the Ronald Reagan Medical Center of UCLA, I feel I am in a position to offer my opinion on my experiences. After having surgery at the aforementioned, and then discovering that I wasn’t completely cured after my parathyroidectomy, I researched further […]
