Santa Visits Dr. Livhits

By SANTA santaclaus

I’m writing to commend UCLA Health, the UCLA Endocrine Center & the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for my recent successful minimally invasive parathyroidectomy. Dr. Masha Livhits and Dr. Lauren Orr reviewed the pre-op material submitted by my General Practitioner in Alaska, personally examined, and successfully operated on me less than a week ago. And, […]

From NF to Adrenals

By JJoe uclaendocrineblogger1

I was to start off by saying that I began my care with UCLA for treatment for Neurofibromatosis (NF) Type 1. My doctor at UCLA ordered a MRI which also showed a tumor growth on my adrenal glands, and was referred to Dr. Livhits. My 24 hour urine test also came back with numbers that […]

Thyroid Surgery

By Byrnsi miszm68

I had nodules that turned out to be cancer on the right side of thyroid. My endocrinologist suggested that I have the whole thyroid removed as a cautionary measure. Dr. Livhits said she would just take half of it out, why have more out when there isn’t anything suspicious on the left side. i was […]

The Cherry on Top

By VT wolvy123

I was told I have hyperthyroid and referred to Dr. Livhits. My calcium level was high and in surgery Dr. Livhits found hyperparathyroid. I was in surgery for 3 1/2 hours. The surgery went really well- no swelling, no pain. Dr. Livhits did a great job and I am happy with the outcome. The cherry on […]

My Incredible UCLA Team

By Peanut mtsandoval64

Through Lifescreen, a nodule was found on the left side of my thyroid. They told me to take it to my doctor. When I saw her, she did an ultrasound, then nothing happened. 6 months later I had still had symptoms so another ultrasound was done. But I was told my symptoms were likely just […]

I Feel Amazing

By RamonaM craftyladyramona

I came down to UCLA because I found out that I had hyperparathyroidism and started researching what it was because I never heard of it before. I learned that surgery wasn’t difficult but tricky so I had to find a specialist for parathyroid surgery. I started looking for someone in the LA area and ran […]

Calcium Fixup

By Pat kerryfvces

Since I am a Type II diabetic, I have lots of blood tests. Although I didn’t feel any symptoms, my thyroid was “wacky” and my calcium levels kept going up. I was referred to Dr. Livhits who is lovely and her assistants are great. She did parathyroid surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. I stayed in […]

Trust UCLA and Your Doctors

By marco markbrownapt

I met with Dr. Livhits and she explained that I had a tumor on my adrenal gland. Having the tumor removed would regulate my potassium levels and blood pressure, so she recommended surgery. I am visiting 10 days following surgery and my blood pressure has gone down. My potassium level has improved and is getting […]

Success with Dr. Livhits

By Mark marcoslopez47

A couple years ago, I started having abdominal pain on my left side every couple of months, so I went to the doctor and they found a 4 cm cyst. They initially told me that I would not need surgery and that it would pop on its own. However, the pain started becoming more frequent […]

Fatigue is Gone!

By Baby nurse triciarn

I had extreme fatigue. I am usually energetic but I found I needed naps. I am a nurse who was working 12 hour shifts but had to reduce it to 8 hours. My calcium level was high and so was my parathyroid level. I had osteoporosis. My endocrinologist said I needed a parathyroidectomy and that […]
