‘Joy & Giving Back’
“I’m doing arts and crafts and dancing,” grins six-year-old Caitlin Deruyter, who came with her mom, Sarah Deruyter, to volunteer at the annual UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital holiday party. Sarah expounds, “We’ve been coming for the last few years to help support whatever any of these kids needs. Caitlin always looks forward to this every year. She was begging me to drive faster. Last year we delivered food to the kids in their rooms, and it was one of the most memorable experiences. I think this is such a beautiful event, and it has such an impact with these kids during the holiday season. We’re all about joy and giving back.” Dancing, Caitlin adds, “I want to help make people smile.”
