“It’s incredible to see the city of Los Angeles recognize ovarian cancer and bring awareness to this,” says Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh, MD/PhD, director of the Gynecology Oncology Discovery Laboratory at UCLA Health.
“Ovarian cancer awareness is a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart. It’s something that my team and I treat in the clinic and research in the lab. My hope is that women are aware of the signs and symptoms associated with ovarian cancer, that they get genetic testing when it’s indicated, and that we develop preventative strategies to prevent ovarian cancer. If a woman gets diagnosed, I hope she knows that we would be happy to take care of her. At UCLA Health, we will make sure she gets the latest treatments, enroll her in a clinical trial, and see her through her journey.”
