UCLA The Only Place
“We tried other hospitals, but this is the only place we can bring her,” says Joe Pineda, father to 12-year-old Elyse Pineda. “Elise has chronic pseudo obstruction, which means her bowels get backed up. She’s had this condition since birth. Whenever they have events like Beauty Bus it helps the day go much faster. The kids forget about what they’re going through, they forget about the pain; it keeps them occupied. Sometimes, like today, they’re able to do something for the caregivers as well. I had my first facial today. The care here is really good. This is the only place we’ll bring her.”
