Spreading Awareness

“My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer when she was 48 and passed away at 49 years old,” says Christiana Camacho, a nurse at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and advocate for colon cancer screenings. “I had my first colonoscopy done about eight months ago, and I will get one every five years as part of my screening because we have it in our family. I know that colon cancer is preventable, and if my mom had early detection maybe she’d be here today. I do everything I can to spread awareness.”
