‘Couldn’t Have Asked For Better’

“My mom was a nurse, and she was the one who inspired me to go into the profession,” says Charmaine Platon, a clinical nurse in the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. “I was always interested in the mind and managing the mind. I thought psych was the best of both worlds because I get to take care of people who have psychiatric issues and teach them how to cope with illness. I enjoy being able to teach other people so they can have the best emotional health and take care of themselves. I’m very proud to be a psych nurse at UCLA Health. It was my dream hospital when I was a new grad, and I couldn’t have asked for a better career.”
