Choose Being Happy & Well

“We are not just taking care of their disease, but rather taking care of them as a whole individual during their treatment and afterwards for their recovery,” says Dr. Helena Chang, director of the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center. “16 years ago we wanted to have a day to say, ‘I recognize you have gone through a tough journey, here is a day for you to enjoy.’ Every year we have a central theme, and this year’s event is really choosing to be well. It’s about how you can have a fulfilled life after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and how we can appreciate our daily life a little bit more. As a physician, my reward is when a patient says ‘I’m normal. I feel normal. I feel like myself again.’”
