Updating to the Patient Perspective

“Our number one hope is that the 200 or so referring physicians, cardiologists and internists are being updated with the protocols that we are currently using,” says Dr. Mario Deng, cardiologist and active participant in the Heart Failure Symposium and UCLA Health. “The symposium provides us, every year, with an opportunity to advance the multi-disciplinary culture at UCLA Health. When we’re working as a multi-disciplinary team, meaning the physician’s role, the surgeon’s role and the doctor’s role are visible and embedded into a much larger non-physician component. We emphasize the patient perspective, and therefore, the necessity for good communication between us and the patients, so they feel safe from primary care to tertiary care.”
