It’s All Good
“I’d let other kids know that you’re going to have good days and you’re going to have bad days, but every day is worth it,” says 13-year-old Osker Gamboa, who received a heart transplant three years ago at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. “When I was diagnosed with a heart murmur they said I needed a heart transplant. UCLA Health is amazing. They explain everything down into tiny little pieces so you know exactly what is going to happen to you that day or what they do during the procedure. It felt really good to know what they were going to do and what it was going to be like. If you have a heart condition, I would recommend that you definitely come here. In the end, it’s all going to be good.”
