Double Take on Eyes
“I’ve been here since 7:30 am and it’s been great, we’ve had a stream of people from all different backgrounds and all different conditions coming through,” says Dr. Simon Fung, assistant professor of ophthalmology at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute and volunteer at the Care Harbor LA event. “Care Harbor LA looks after those who are not insured, are underinsured or who want a second check for their eye care. There was one patient who wanted to check on her glaucoma because she wasn’t seeing well, and it turned out she had not only glaucoma but cataracts as well. I moved to Los Angeles in January and I want to be part of the community, and this event allows me to give back.”
