Worth It
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. That was very stressful but when a doctor explains things to you the knowledge helps. You need to pick the best surgeon - they will tell you your options for surgery. Decisions are made on a case to case basis. Some need a lobectomy. In my case, the left lobe needed to come out. Dr. Livhits said she would check the border in surgery to see if the right side needed to come out. But there was no need to remove the right.
I am so lucky to have picked a world renowned surgeon. She explained all options and benefits to me. It was stressful but complete information makes you stronger. I have faith and belief.
I work at UCLA in a pre-op department. Patients don't know what I have been going through but it makes me more empathetic and understanding with them.
