Be Aware but Don't Be Afraid

My doctor discovered high blood calcium levels, and he noticed it had something to do with my parathyroid. After visiting an endocrinologist, it was determined that I needed surgery to remove all or part of my parathyroid glands. The information I received at first seemed frightening - I was informed there were numerous side effects, and I remember reading a document detailing them that was pages long . Thankfully however, I didn't experience any of these symptoms. The UCLA experience is wonderful, and Dr. Yeh is a great physician.

Looking back, my advice is to be aware of potential side effects but don't scare yourself too much. Surgery can be a good thing, because it solves the problem.
