Entrepreneur Helping Sick Kids

“We were talking about ways to help people who were sick, and kids specifically, and we thought, ‘Why not make cards out of Maddy’s art?’” says Victoria O’Neal, mother to 9-year-old Maddy O’Neal, who turned her pastel and watercolor artwork into cards that she could sell. Maddy’s father, Chris O’Neal, says: “We printed up 100 packets of cards, and each packet had 10 cards with two different images in each packet. Maddy sold them to friends and family, to teachers at school and at craft fairs.” Through her card sales, Maddy raised more than $600 and donated all the money to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Maddy says, “I wanted to help kids who are sick in the hospital.”
