Made Me Feel Like Family
A few months ago I followed up for a previous medical condition with a CT scan, and they happened to find a cyst on my adrenal gland. My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Lihvits to get a second opinion on whether to monitor it or get surgery. After reviewing the tests and images, she suggested that due to its size it would be best to get it removed. I was very hesitant to get another surgery, because I had received a complete hysterectomy previously for cervical cancer. However, her personality and demeanor helped me relax greatly. We scheduled the surgery and I'm coming back for a follow up appointment one week later. My pathology report came clear so that was a relief - I wanted to reach out and hug her. Dr. Lihvits is great and although I came in nervous, she made the experience as positive as possible. The medical assistant, Isaac, also had a large impact - when I felt afraid he placed his hand on my shoulder, assuring me silently that everything would be okay. This human gesture meant so much to me, and it's something I don't experience often.
