Cataract revealed eye cancer
"I have a cataract developing in my right eye, and my ophthalmologist found a shadow during my eye exam," says Anne Burkart, who found out she had cancer in her left eye. "I was really fortunate that he sent me over to the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. It turned out I had a malignant tumor. I'm back for my three-and-a-half month checkup to see how effective (my radiation treatment) was. I commute from Orange County, and the traffic is pretty awful, so they do everything possible to get everything done in one day. I came in for my pre-operative consultation and saw the retinologist, the oncologist and the chemist who actually does the radioactive disc. They work really hard to make it easy for you. I would certainly recommend this place. The care is wonderful."
